Kirinyaga University College (KYUC), was established
by
the Kenya Government through the Kirinyaga University
College Order, Legal Notice
No. 108 of August, 2011 as
a constituent college of Jomo Kenyatta University
of Agriculture and Technology. The University College aims at becoming a world class university in training, research,
technology and innovation for development.
The University College invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons with excellent acade mic
credentials to fill the following positions:
1.DEPUTY PRINCIPAL (ADMINISTRATION, PLANNING & FINANCE)
Duties and Responsibilities
The Deputy Principal, Administration, Planning &
Finance (APF) will be the Assistant to the University College
Principal and will be in charge of Administration, Planning, and Finance Division whose primary duties and responsibilities will
include;
- Direct and organize the administration, planning and financial management of the University College; Provide proactive human resource management leadership;
- Co-ordinate the preparation of financial and budget estimates, quarterly and annual financial reports for presentation to the council;
- Advice the Principal on financial matters of the University;
- Co-ordinate the design, implementation and development of appropriate human resources
- policies, procedures and systems to attract, develop and retain qualified and experienced human resource;
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Principal and the University College Council
DEPUTY PRINCIPAL(ACADEMIC AFFAIRS)
Duties and Responsibilities
The Deputy Principal, Academic Affairs(AA) will be the
Assistant to the University College Principal
and shall be the Head of Academic, Research and Extension Division whose main duties and
responsibilities will include;

- Coordinating the development of academic policies of the University College in consultation with the academic board and the senate;
- Direct and organize academic programs of the University College; Coordinate and manage student affairs
- Coordinate and manage examinations and the preparation of academic transcripts, certificates, diplomas and degrees;
- Advice the Principal on academic and student matters of the University College.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Principal and the University College Council
Qualifications and Experience for Deputy Principals
Applicants should:-
- Be Professors or Associate Professors who have at least eight (8) years experience in management
- positions with outstanding and internationally recognized scholarships record;
- Have demonstrated competence in administrative and financial leadership in academic/research Environment
- Be well published and academic leaders in their areas of specialization.
- Have proven capacity to promote learning, teaching, research and development at university level; Outstanding ability to communicate effectively and possess excellent interpersonal skills;
- Show good understanding and commitment to the University coupled with a passion for promotion of learning, excellence in teaching, research and innovation with the highest ethical standards, integrity and professionalism;
- Have skills, capacity and determination to initiate and sustain linkages and networks for the promotion of scholarships.
- Have skills, capacity and determination to initiate and facilitate the development of relevant and quality society driven academic programs.
- Excellent understating of the current trends in university education and training in Kenya and globally and abroad awareness of the factors and conditions shaping the development of university education in Kenya;
- A good understanding of government financial and fiscal policies, strategic planning and vision 2030 flagship projects, procurement and disposal legal regimes.
- The above posts carry an attractive remuneration package which includes basic salary, house allowance and medical cover as per University College’s medical scheme, leave allowance, official transport and gratuity at the end of the contract period
- Employment will be on a five (5) year contract renewable depending on performance and mutual agreement.
